Newman University is delighted to invite applications for its latest Doctoral Studentship competition. As part of the University’s continued commitment to support the most promising researchers to undertake in-depth scholarship, applications are invited for a number of fully-funded PhD Studentships for three years (full-time) for UK or EU students.
The Studentship includes a subsistence grant in line with the recommendations of the UK research councils (currently £14,057 p.a.) with all fees paid.
The University supports world-leading and internationally-recognised research across a broad range of disciplines including History, Theology and Education Studies.
The School of Human Sciences is issuing an open call for applications but is particularly interested in applications on:
* Scriptural interpretations of history, biblicism
* Catholic emancipation literature
* The Oxford Movement
* Presbyterianism in sixteenth and seventeenth-century Britain and Ireland
* Early modern travel and conversion narratives in the Atlantic World
* Print, manuscript and oral cultures
* Temperance
* Early Church and Old Testament studies

Applicants are expected to possess a Master’s Degree with Distinction, or with a Distinction in the Dissertation, or an equivalent qualification.
